At around fifty years old, I started having enlarged prostate issues, making it very difficult for me to urinate. Ever since then, I've been learning and changing the way I eat, started an exercise program, and now I'm beginning to work on my mental well being.
Through the years, especially when I was married, I was at my heaviest self, weighing in between two hundred and fifteen pounds to two hundred pounds.
In the early two thousands, I was carrying too much weight for being only 5' 7" tall, and started to develop some health issues. Like they say, "happy and married". I gradually have been losing weight since then and feel great at one hundred and seventy pounds, now I'm shooting for my target weight of one hundred and sixty pounds before I turn sixty years old.
I have a couple of videos on my YouTube channel that you might like about prostate and some healthy cooking tips. Now that I have more free time, I'll be learning more how to create better videos, updating my website periodically, and continue to write more books. First, I must start by telling you that all information on my website is solely my own opinion(s) and with any diet and exercise program(s) you should always consult with your doctor. And you should do research for more information pertaining to your particular needs.
A balance diet should focus on a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fats like nuts and fish fats. Try to figure out what your body likes and stick with the foods that make you feel good and stay away from foods you're allergic to.
I'm going to be honest, if you want to lose weight, then you'll have to burn more calories than you take in. That's the hard part, we all love to eat but we don't like to go and burn it off. Start to gradually eat smaller portions and maybe eat one less meal a day. And by doing this along with some form of daily exercise four to five days a week, you will definitely see results.
Regular exercise and movement are crucial for your whole body well being, you should try and exercise at least five days a week. You don't need to join a gym just go outside and walk for thirty minutes, go bike riding, swimming, or turn some music on and dance. Again, whatever you decide to do, do it for at least thirty minutes a day, and remember to take in less and burn more.
When you think that you're ready and able to make the leap into getting your body stronger, try adding in strength training, and working on flexibility and balance. You want to have some muscles or maintain what you already have as you age. This is very easy to do and simple. You can do pushups, sit-ups, pullups, and do squats to work out your legs. For flexibility, try yoga and maybe Tai Chi exercises, both are very good for your balance and mind.
Like everything in life, do it in moderation, don't forget to drink a lot of water, get plenty of rest, and sleep at least seven to eight hours a day. Sleeping is when your body heals itself and you could also take a nap during the day if you didn't get enough sleep.
